The Butterfly Effect: The Power of Transformation

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy 30:19, KJV

Everyone loves the look of the butterfly. To see the beauty and colors of its wings. The see them flit from one plant to another.  Basking in the sun and drinking the nectar of the flowers. Fluttering their wings in the air. Bringing beauty and joy to someone’s day. Who wouldn’t dare look upon a butterfly?

Now let’s go back a few months or even years. That particular butterfly is not to be seen, for it has been living its life in a different form, as a caterpillar. Having only reached its second stage of life, nor longer a babe, but neither fully grown.

Isn’t that like us; Going through the different stages of growth. Not quite hitting full maturity, but neither where or who we were or have been.

Before the Butterfly emerges, it goes through 3 stages of growth that are crucial to it reaching maturity. Sometimes we can get so busy trying to reach the Butterfly stage that we try to skip the process.  We want to skip the ugly and messy parts of life and go straight through to fluttering our wings. Each stage of growth is critical. If we skip steps, our beauty will not be fully revealed. We may be missing wings, lacking beauty, or shortening our lifespans. If we are not careful we may choose the life of the moth and be drawn to the flame of the flesh and die out before our time.  Please know that a Butterfly must fight for that beauty. It must fight to gain strength for its wings and to endure the transformation.

The process is a fight. However, you do get to decide what the fight is against.  Will you fight your flesh and the lure of the enemy? Or, will you wrestle with yourself like dear Jacob? Or will you choose to fight against the process and the will of God?

Honey, baby, child let me tell you something about the process.  Open your eyes wide and see this: THE PROCESS HURTS… The process is designed to change you.  It is designed to perfect your wings. The process is designed, just with you in mind. In order for Gold to be pure, it must be tried by fire.  Where you are going, you cannot afford to skip the process. You cannot allow yourself to wallow in the hurt, covering and burying it like it never existed, yet acting out in times of stress or trials. Where you are going you must let the Light of God shine upon your wings allowing all to see your true colors. The colors you are going to have to fight for.

Now this brings us to the true question: Do you want to be perfected? Not perfect but perfected. Do you want to be a shell of who God has destined you to be? Or do you want to fly? Not just fly, but soar basking in the Light of the Son. Letting His light to shine and be reflected in your wings.

During this series we will discuss the four parts of the Butterfly lifecycle. We will begin to see how each step is instrumental in the process of transformation.

Up next… Have you been buried alive? “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:24 KJV
